‘Manolo Valdés at Berkeley Square, London’
Opera Gallery are delighted to reveal the brand new public sculpture "Butterflies" by Spanish artist Manolo Valdés. The colossal sculpture was installed at Berkeley Square in London, and is one of six sculptures included in London’s City of Westminster's 'City of Sculpture' initiative. 'City of Sculpture' launched in 2010 to promote public art ahead of London 2012. It is now a rolling programme in collaboration with many of London's galleries as well as international galleries and artists to commission and showcase pieces of art. Weighing over five tonnes, the giant aluminium sculpture will be residing at its Mayfair location for the next six months. "One day, while strolling in Central Park, I saw butterflies fluttering over a person's head. That inspired me! From that moment, I saw butterflies everywhere!" Manolo Valdés. Film: DANIELE BANZATO
