The Publisher Desk is looking for a dynamic Web Designer to work with our internal teams and clients to design new tools, interfaces, as well as the overall layout and aesthetic for websites. 

Duties include meeting with clients to review website templates or refine their designs and running tests to preview layouts and website features.  Work closely with each client so they can translate the customer’s thoughts into a visually appealing design.  Designing visual imagery for websites and ensuring that they are in line with branding for clients.  Ensure all websites are created with a user-friendly interface idea in mind.

Design graphics, icons, and logos for internal and external teams.  Designer will also work closely with the team to help create custom widgets, newsletters, and breaking news banners.

The ideal candidate must understand user experience and be able to build media websites that are easy to understand, navigate, use, and adhere to design standards and specifications.  They must be able to design layouts for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.  Create wireframes or mockups for web pages and applications.  Establishing design guidelines, standards, and best practices.

Web Designer Requirements:

• WordPress experience 
• Design custom WordPress themes
• Proficiency in digital graphic design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other visual design tools.
• Proficiency in front-end development web programming languages such as HTML and CSS, JQuery, and JavaScript.
• Good understanding of search engine optimization and core web vitals principles.
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues.
• Excellent visual design skills.
• Creative and open to new ideas.
• Excellent communication skills.
• One to three years of professional design experience working on media sites.
• Portfolio of strong creative work
