Two week hand-over and one week hand-back

The role is office-based in Bloomsbury, London for 4 days a week - with Fridays off except when work overflows or for our monthly team day. WFH is often agreed upon for up to two days/week.

Shoots also take place in the evenings and weekends, averaging 6 per month (time in lieu provided).

Pay:

Freelance initially, £2,666k/month (£32k pro rata)

Overview:

NextUp is currently seeking an enthusiastic production all-rounder: editor, camera-operator, producer and live event director.

The role is as sabbatical cover, with the potential for permanent employment.

You will be embedded in Nextup’s small and dynamic content team who film, edit and livestream live comedy shows in London and often around the UK.

The bulk of the initial work will be leading filming on shoots and editing the resulting footage to a high degree of quality. You’ll additionally take on director and producer responsibilities over time - fully supported by our in-house team. This is a small, dynamic team working closely together, so occasionally extra tasks/projects may arise beyond the specifics of the role.

The role also involves being an active staff-member within an office setting, reporting and contributing to various meetings within and across departments. 

This role is ideal for a professional with 2-4 years of experience in live event production and edit workflows, who is eager to elevate their career and take on more producer-based tasks within our close-knit and passionate team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and enhance NextUp’s production standards in all content projects.

  • Edit specials, short form and social content to a high level of finish.

  • Lead and execute comedy specials and live stream shoots.

  • Direct shoots and manage post-production, ensuring high-quality audio and visual output.

  • Collaborate with artists and teams for efficient pre-production and compelling content creation.

  • Monitor project progress, maintain efficient workflows, and adhere to deadlines and budgets.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with performers, guiding them through production phases.

Candidate Qualities:

  • Experience in comedy content creation, especially stand-up.

  • Proven track record in live event production: filming, editing and directing.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of pre and post-production workflows.

  • Proficiency in camera operation, editing, and production software.

  • Strong editing skills including multicam editing

  • Strong adaptability and teamwork skills.

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and production excellence.

  • Client-facing experience, showcasing effective communication and relationship management.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in live production equipment and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Experienced with project management tools like Monday.com and Slack.

And of course, a keen interest and enjoyment of live comedy is a massive plus!
