Summer Solstice
This series is dedicated to the celebration of Sunna, an ancient germanic goddess and personification of the sun, also known as Sól. The tradition of summer solstice in Austria, is dedicated to Sunna and we light pyres of wood to banish evil spirits and pray for the sun to give us a fruitful summer. This photographic series is a celebration of the female power that Sunna represents to me. Like the sun, women possess the capacity for both warmth needed to nourish and help flourish, yet also the fire that can scorch entire fields. Both volatile and soothing, the true power of nature and women lies within their ability to balance and apply their diametric attributes.
