About the Contract Writer role

We are hiring a contract writer to work alongside our consultants and partners in the antitrust practice as they build public profiles and produce practice-defining content. You will be the writer behind the byline — turning expert thinking into sharp, publishable prose across a range of formats. The volume of writing work at Keystone is steady and growing, and we want someone dedicated to it full-time . This person will lead drafting and make sure projects are progressing according to the planned publishing schedule.

This is a good fit for a recent graduate who wants to build a career writing about the cutting-edge developments in economics, technology and legal domains, or for an experienced writer looking for a change of pace from newsrooms, agencies, or in-house comms.

What you will do

  • Ghostwrite thought leadership under consultants' and partners' bylines — LinkedIn posts, opinion pieces, long-form articles, and short commentary tied to news and regulatory developments.
  • Partner directly with practitioners to translate their expertise into a distinct voice on the page.
  • Produce practice materials: point-of-view pieces, conference talks, panel remarks, and synthesis of the latest cutting-edge research.
  • Interview experts, digest technical source material, and work with partners to communicate research to a broader audience.
  • Manage a pipeline of concurrent pieces across multiple practitioners, managing own and others’ contributions to deadlines.
  • Develop connections to help move content steadily from idea to publication.

What we are looking for

  • Excellent writer. You can produce clean, structured, engaging prose on a tight turnaround. A short portfolio of published or unpublished work will help us get to know your writing style.
  • Fast learner. You are comfortable picking up key detail on technical topics — economics, technology, competition, regulation, litigation — from colleagues and written materials, and can translate for a non-technical audience.
  • Adaptive voice. You can write convincingly under someone else's byline and adjust register from LinkedIn post to formal article.
  • Reliable operator. You track your own work, manage multiple threads, and communicate clearly with busy contributors.
  • Curious. You ask the second and third questions and find the key insight.

Nice to have (not required)

  • Journalism, editorial, comms, or agency experience.
  • Familiarity with consulting, professional services, law, finance, or public policy.
  • A demonstrated interest in one of the domains our antitrust practice focuses on.

Terms

This is a contract engagement, initially 6–12 months, with monthly retainer commensurate with experience. We are open to full-time or near-full-time schedules. Contract may extend or convert based on fit and need. Based in Keystone’s New York office in Soho or DC office in the West End on a hybrid schedule

To apply

Send a short note explaining why this role interests you, a CV, and 2–3 writing samples (published or otherwise). Samples in a range of voices and on technical topics including economics, regulation, computer science are especially useful.
