Ende Gelände
On November 4 2017, more than a thousand activists joined the collective Ende Gelände and occupied the Tagebau Hambach open pit coal mine in Elsdorf, Germany. With COP23 opening the next day in Bonn - a mere 50km away - the occupation is a message aimed for world leaders : to prevent catastrophic consequences from climate change, coal extraction must stop.
