Considering the number of column inches dedicated to Brexit, we are still no clearer to understanding the true impact of the most divisive decision the UK has made in decades. Freelancers have been largely overlooked in conversations about how British businesses and workers will be affected post-Brexit. Taking into account the number of freelancers who have clients in the EU, regularly provide professional services throughout Europe and contribute billions to the UK economy, it’s no wonder the self-employed community are a little on edge.

THE IMPACT OF GDPR ON STREET PHOTOGRAPHY

On the 25th of May 2018, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) will introduce a data protection law framework across the EU that aims to put citizens back in control of their personal data. NEW RULES FOR YOUTUBE PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM

Many freelance content creators have been using and earning from the YouTube Partnership Program, however, YouTube is firming up the rules and it could spell the end for many money-making channels. Effective immediately, a channel/creator must meet a new (higher) view and subscriber count in order to be able to earn advertising revenue from their videos.

This week, the founder of The Freelancer Club, Matt Dowling, was invited to join a panel of industry leaders to discuss the merits of new legislation with Catherine McKinnell MP in Parliament. The roundtable raised many interesting questions surrounding the issue of unpaid freelance work and the rights of freelancers.
